❊ About Cathy Sheafor
Cathy Sheafor wrote her first picture book in fourth grade—Ally the Alligator. In high school, she wrote for the school newspaper before she and a friend co-wrote a novel.
After a career as an attorney and a brief stint founding a school for girls from low-income families, Cathy participated in NANOWriMo in 2015 and completed her second novel. She returned to writing in 2020 finding a true passion for writing for children. She has been writing picture books ever since.
She's sold two picture books to The Pilgrim Press. KEEP ON A-WALKIN’: KIMBERLY BURWELL STANDS UP FOR ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE will be published in 2026 and SITTING AND KNITTING will be release in 2027.
Cathy has an amazing husband and two spectacular twin daughters. When not writing, Cathy is usually at the pool coaching swimming, but you can also find her hiking in her free time. A cancer survivor with a permanently torn ACL and lifelong health issues including anxiety, Cathy lives in North Carolina with her husband and parents and spends a good bit of time in Minnesota near Lake Superior. Her favorite food is banana cream pie.
